Terms

The rules for using this site and for buying the guide, in plain language.

Last updated: 7 October 2026

1. Who we are

This website is run by StartMargin, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 42102388. Contact: info@startmargin.com.

2. What the numbers are — and are not

The site describes 115 business models with estimated startup costs, hours, time to first income, margins and monthly earnings for European markets. These are researched estimates and ranges, not promises, quotes or guarantees. Real costs depend on your city, your choices and the market, and they change over time.

Nothing on this site, in the tool or in the guide is financial, legal or tax advice. Check anything you are about to spend money on, and take professional advice where it matters. Each business page lists the sources its figures are based on.

3. Using the site and the tool

The site and the tool are free to use for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may quote short passages with a link to the page. You may not copy the database, scrape the site systematically or republish its content as your own.

4. Buying the guide

What you buy. A digital guide in PDF, delivered as a download. The price is shown on the guide page and includes VAT where it applies.

Payment. The checkout is run by Stripe, which acts as the reseller (merchant of record) of the guide: it takes the payment, handles VAT and issues the receipt. Stripe's own terms, shown at checkout, apply to the payment itself.

Delivery. Right after payment you can download the guide, and the same link is sent to the email address you used. The link works for 30 days — save the file. If it does not arrive, write to us and we will send it again.

Licence. The guide is for your own use. Please do not share, resell or publish it.

Start kits. The same applies to the start kits sold on each business page: a digital plan for one business, shown right after payment and sent by email. The link works for twelve months; use "Save as PDF" to keep a copy.

5. Right of withdrawal

If you buy as a consumer in the EU, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. For digital content supplied immediately, this right ends once the supply has started — that is, once you download the guide or open the kit — provided you asked for immediate delivery and acknowledged that you would lose the right of withdrawal. If that acknowledgement was not given at checkout, you keep the 14-day right: write to us within 14 days of purchase and we refund you.

If the file is damaged or does not match its description, you are entitled to a working copy or a refund, whatever the date. Just write to us.

6. Affiliate links

Some links to tools and services are affiliate links: if you buy through them we may earn a commission. It never changes which businesses fit you in the tool or what the numbers say.

7. Liability

We research the figures carefully, but we cannot guarantee they are complete, current or right for your situation. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions you make or losses you suffer based on the site, the tool or the guide, and our total liability for the guide is limited to the price you paid. This does not limit liability for intent or gross negligence, or any right you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. The version published here on the date of your purchase applies to that purchase.

9. Law and disputes

Dutch law applies. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country. If something goes wrong, write to us first — most problems are solved in one email. Otherwise, the competent Dutch court decides, unless the law gives you the right to go to the court where you live.
